Drug Sale License (Retail/Wholesale) - Fresh / Retention

Obtaining a Drug Sale License, whether for retail or wholesale purposes, involves a series of steps and requirements to ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Here’s an overview of the process for obtaining a Drug Sale License in India, considering both fresh applications and renewals (retention):

Drug Sale License Types:
  1. Retail Drug License:
  • Issued to premises engaged in the sale of drugs to consumers directly.
  • Includes pharmacies, chemist shops, and other retail outlets.
  1. Wholesale Drug License:
  • Issued to establishments involved in the distribution and sale of drugs to other license holders (e.g., hospitals, pharmacies).
  • Wholesale drug licenses are required for warehouses, distributors, and wholesalers.
Ensure adherence to all provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 and Rules thereunder. Maintain proper storage conditions and adhere to Good Storage Practices (GSP) and Good Distribution Practices (GDP). Maintain accurate records of drug sales, purchases, and stock movements as per regulatory requirements.
